October 15, 2023
The last 30 days have been a whirlwind. Attending 8 signature events and working on 5 FDI Projects has been invigorating.
Project Updates:
Building from last month, we have added Project Daphne: Site Selection and business consulting for an energy related manufacturing facility. We are planning on familiarization tours next month.
We continue to work with two eastern European companies looking to expand operations in the USA. One is looking at a $20 mm expansion in the Pacific Northwest, the other is a $100 mm greenfield investment in the southern states.
We continue to work with an Area Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) / unit of government in Texas to fine tune their upcoming offerings of their services to an international market.
We had a wonderful MS Teams call with the EXIM Bank to learn about their new funding program for businesses in the U.S. to buy, build, and acquire all things necessary to Make More in America and export abroad. It is a fantastic program similar to the SBA 504 Loan Program.
Lastly, a big shout out to the staff at SelectUSA. We had questions regarding reshoring policy and additional access to capital programs. They were delightful and answered our questions.

Afternoon program and Happy Hour sponsored by the International Trade Association of Greater Chicago with the Chicago Customs Brokers & Forwarders Association.
Presentation by Thomas Cook, Managing Director, Blue Tiger International, who will explore proven strategies for reducing risk and spend, including: First Sale, Consolidated Freight, Demand Planning, HTS Reviews, Alternative Sourcing & Near sourcing, and Tariff Engineering. Will include an in-depth review of Foreign Trade Zones, from assessment to implementation.

Business Facilities LiveXchange Emerging industries, Columbus, OH:Michael met with 8 municipalities across 5 states and reconnected with site selection and tax professionals from across the country. Part of the program was a private tour of The Ohio State University Stadium and the National Veterans Memorial and Museum. Also, Ann Cosgrove, Editorial Director of Business Facilites, interviewed Michael for the Business Facilites Podcast discussing what to prepare for in investing in the USA. Indonesian Morning Coffee:Michael attended the Indonesian Morning Coffee: From Farm to Cup Networking Event. In addition to learning about micro producers, the many different regions to grow coffee and enjoying excellent Indonesian food, Michael was able to reconnect with many of the ASEAN area Trade Commissioners.
